We’re Singing

Shadows growing long,
Time for going home,
Time to put these tired bones to bed.
Worked hard all the day,
Earned a little pay,
Just enough to keep us safe, warm, and fed.

Coming ‘round the hill,
See the glow from window sill,
I can smell the smoke from the fire.
The thought of being there,
Takes the chill out of the air,
And I’m not so ready now to retire.

Cause love is waiting there,
And I’ll be singing.
Later friends will gather ‘round,
And they’ll be singing.
We’ll do our favorite songs,
And some brand new sing-a-longs,
Till the heavens glow bright with the dawn.

I’ve got a loving wife,
She’s the treasure of my life,
For her I’d gladly lasso the moon.
We’ve got some good ol’ friends,
They’re true blue through thick and thin,
And we love to see them fill up our room.

Cause love is always there,
And I’m singing.
All our friends are gathered ‘round,
And they’re all singing.
We do our favorite songs,
And some brand new sing-a-longs,
Till the heavens glow bright with the dawn.

I see a shooting star,
Reminds us who we are,
Pilgrims bound to wander and roam.
But every journey ends,
And so does life my friend,
But there’s joy in knowing soon we’ll be home.

Cause love is waiting there,
And I’ll be singing.
All our friends will gather ‘round,
And they’ll be singing.
We’ll do our favorite songs,
And some brand new sing-a-longs,
Till the heavens glow bright with the dawn.
